What is SB-243?

California Senate Bill 243 (effective January 1, 2026) requires AI platforms that provide emotional support or companionship to display mental health crisis resources when users express thoughts of self-harm or suicide.

How It Works

Our system uses pattern matching to detect messages that may indicate a crisis. When detected:

  1. 1. The conversation pauses
  2. 2. Crisis resources are immediately displayed
  3. 3. The user can access professional support
  4. 4. The user may choose to continue the conversation
